ELEMENTARY SCHOOL TOUR 2014!!!!
Monday 11/24, dismissed from 8:10-end of the day.
FULL UNIFORM, no hats
BRING A LUNCH- you WILL NOT be allowed to go to the commons for lunch
We will be back to HFII at approx. 11:00 for lunch, and back at the end of the day approx. 1:45
For those of you in off-campus programs (CSI, IB, MST, KGB, KFC, etc.) if you plan on joining us you will need to have your parents call you in for dismissal.

Volunteers Needed / Reminders

  1. Volunteers needed: To lay down and pick up the tarps in the gym for the Athletic Boosters Craft Show.  The band boosters volunteer to help with this task and, in return, the Athletic Boosters loan us their tarps for Crafters’ Clearance in February.  This saves us a great deal of money.  Volunteers are needed for set up on Wednesday, November 26 at noon and for clean up on Sunday, November 30 at 3 pm.  Task takes a couple hours.  Please contact Jeff Giuliani at hf2imb.president@gmail.com if you are available for either time slot.  We need 5-6 volunteers.
  2. Cheesecake pick up is this Wednesday, 11/19 from 4:30 until 5:30 by the band room.  Contact Cheri Martin (sdamartin23@gmail.com) with any questions.
  3. Request for Chaperones:  Mr. Schoenherr needs two (2) chaperones on November 24th from approximately 8:30am to 2:00pm for an elementary band tour. Please contact Debbie Zielinski if you are available (emissaz@yahoo.com).
  4. Today is the Last Day for Spirit Wear Orders due 11/17 (for Christmas Delivery).  Spirit wear includes various style sweats, t-shirts, pants, with the  Marching Falcons name and logo.  Order Options   Order Form  Contact Mary Medley (bmjslmedley@yahoo.com) with questions.

Barnes and Noble Fundraiser and Student Performances!

Henry Ford II Band Students will be performing at the Barnes and Noble on Hall Road on Saturday, November 22 from 1-3 pm.  This is also a fundraiser for the band.  A percentage of your Barnes & Noble purchases at the store or online will benefit the Boosters.  Please print out and post this flyer around your work office or email to friends / family.  Additional information is available here.  Our bookfair ID is 11497435 for online orders at BN.COM/bookfairs from 11/22 to 11/24.

Scrips / Gift Card orders are due at the meeting.  This is one of our easiest fundraisers.  You can earn money for your student’s account just by purchasing gift cards for stores where you already purchase items.  Sam’s Club, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Starbucks, Wendy’s, Subway, Meijers, Mobil, etc.  If you have any questions please contact Denise Henigan at 586-243-1658 or email henigand@wowway.com .

Timeline- Detroit Red Wings/Joe Louis Arena Performance – 10/23/14

4:00   Report to HFII in FULL UNIFORM. Cases on the trailer, instruments carried on the bus (except for tubas, percussion & colorguard)

4:20   Depart for Detroit- Joe Louis Arena

5:20   Arrive at Joe Louis, unload, warm-up, etc. (I left plenty of time for travel and unloading, can’t predict what traffic may be like!)

6:00-6:30     Performance on the East Steps of Joe Louis Arena. We will play the entire show, at least twice.

Upon conclusion of the performance, we will pack up the trailer, get on the buses. For those of you who are going to the game afterwards, make sure you bring a change of clothes, garment bag, and etc. To ensure that everyone gets home safely, if you are staying for the game, YOU MUST CHECK OUT WITH A CHAPERON WITH YOUR PARENTS PRESENT!!!!

We are in need of five chaperones for next week’s trip to play on the steps of Joe Louis Arena, prior to the Red Wing Game, Thursday, October 23.  Call time at the latest will be 4:30. October Band Booster Meeting – Monday October 6th

Lots of exciting things happening with the band.  Stay “in the know” by attending the Band Booster meeting on the first Monday of each month.  Below are some items due this month:

  • Deposit for Washington D.C. Trip (Memorial Day Weekend 2015) – $100 due.  Credit Cards are accepted for this payment (transaction fee applies).  We will earn a discount for the trip based on the number of students who place their deposits.
  • Red Wings Fundraiser Ticket Order.  Game is October 23rd.  Tickets are $30/each.  Your student will earn money towards their account.  The band will be playing on the steps of Joe Louis – what a great opportunity before the Red Wings move to their new field!
  • Mums fundraiser – If you ordered mums, they will be available for pick-up.  There will also be a limited number of mums available for sale – “cash and carry.”
  • Pillow Orders are due at the meeting to ensure Christmas delivery.  The pillows are crafted from our retired marching band uniforms.  Samples are available to view in the band room and pictures are on our website.  Last chance for this one-of-a-kind keepsake.

4:45 Report to back field for final run-through. Please make sure you have something to eat beforehand! Don’t want anyone getting sick!
After the run-through, we will go back to the band room, change into uniforms, etc.

5:30 Depart for Utica High School IN FULL UNIFORM. Upon arrival at UHS, leave cases on the bus, trailer, and proceed to warm-up area.

6:30 Mass band rehearsal for Star Spangled Banner,
Mr. Sekich, Conductor

6:45 Cadence over to field. (EHS Drumline Cadence)
